Paris Saint-Germain have stopped discussions with Real Madrid over the signing of Angel Di Maria.
The French champions have been in intense negotiations as they attempt to thrash out a £50million deal.
But the club president has now revealed that they have pulled the plug saying the Argentine is too expensive even for them.
During a press conference with new £50m man David Luiz , Nasser Al Khelaifi said: “We discussed Angel Di Maria with Real Madrid.
“He was very expensive and we have stopped discussions.”
The news could well come as a boost to Manchester United who too have been linked with the 26-year-old throughout the summer.
New boss Louis van Gaal is in the market for a marquee midfielder with rumours of a blockbuster move for Arturo Vidal refusing to go away.
But their attentions could now turn to Di Maria with money apparently no object at Old Trafford according to executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
