Shot boxing star Jamie Moore has told fans: “Thank God I’m okay.”
The former European light-middleweight champion, 35, who was hit in both legs when a gunman opened fire, tweeted: “It’s at times like this that you realise how well you’re thought of.”
Moore, a close friend of fellow-Greater Manchester boxer Ricky Hatton, also 35, was working as a trainer in Marbella when he was attacked at the weekend.
He is thought to have left hospital in the Spanish city.
Moore, highly regarded in the sport, was on the verge of a WBC title shot, in 2009, but decided to quit the sport in 2010 on medical grounds.
Moore is a former two-time British light-middleweight champion and Commonwealth champion.
Moore was helping prepare Mackin for a fight in Dublin later this month against Argentinian, Jorge Sebastian-Heiland for the WBC international midldeweight title.
As well as a working as a trainer Moore has worked as a TV commentator.
He is a friend of former boxer, Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton, who said ‘battler’ Moore would bounce back from the attack.
